So what's with Merriam-Webster?
- It doesn't need Internet connection
- The definitions are OK
- It shows definitions faster than Dictionary.com
- Has a Word of the Day but needs Internet connection

So what's with Dictionary.com?
- It needs internet connection but you can use it offline if you download the offline dictionary
- Has a translator but it must have internet connection
- Has a Word of the Day daily as long as you have the offline dictionary
- It has clear definitions
Conclusion:
I would choose Dictionary.com. It might not be faster than Merriam-Webster but its definitions are more clear and understandable. If I can't check it without connection, I can just download the offline dictionary.
